Fee Inspector (HUD)

The Department of Housing and Urban Development, more commonly known as HUD, helps people who need assistance find housing. This is where a HUD inspection plays a vital role in determining which properties qualify. A HUD inspection is not the same as a regular home inspection as HUD sets strict requirements for a property to qualify. HUD does not warrant the condition of its properties and will not pay for the correction of defects or repairs. Since the new owner will be responsible for making needed repairs, HUD strongly urges every potential home buyer to get an inspection from a licensed professional home inspector prior to submitting an offer to purchase.

HUD inspections are required to evaluate a residence based on 13 requirements. According to the HUD Housing Program Guidebook, these are:
